i’m starting a new KSP playthrough and doing silly roleplay ..this will be the story of the Kerbal Space Exploration Department >:)

AIM: to send an unmanned radio probe into low kerbal orbit (LKO), which will broadcast an annoying beeping noise globally until it’s triple-A batteries die.

LOG 1, JEBEDIAH KERMAN: Craft immediately struck launch support truss and careened into ground. Launch truss relocated.

LOG 2, JEB: Apparently the inertial navigation system was installed sideways.

LOG 3, JEB: Mission success. Bill owes me a tenner.

AIM: Break the sound barrier and collect aerodynamic data, then recover the craft and pilot safely.

LOG 1, VALENTINA KERMAN: Naturally they had to pick the best pilot for the job. Prototype version equipped with ejecting cockpit. Let’s mince some seagulls!

LOG 2, VAL: Too stable, totally lost pitch authority. Could use some bigger control surfaces. Cockpit ejected and recovered.

LOG 3, VAL: Hope the crew chief didn’t mind that grass landing…

LOG 4, VAL: That’s good data right there. I think I broke the airspeed gauge!

POST, BOB KERMAN: Valentina managed to break mach 2.7 on her way east, and then a second time on the return trip. We got some beautiful readings of the shock traveling over the wings.

Greyfoot

AIM: Land an object on the moon, take scientific readings, and return it safely.

LOG 1, BILL KERMAN: The fuel margins on that launch were perfect. Bob can put a sock in it. LKO achieved. Wait, why are we out of batteries? F*ck.

LOG 2, BOB KERMAN: Mark 2: Batteries installed, and Greyfoot is on its way to the Mun.

LOG 3, BOB KERMAN: My goodness. It’s beautiful.

LOG 4, BILL: So somehow I added batteries for the lander, but forgot the batteries on the data return capsule. It’s taking some creative trajectories to achieve munar orbit before the sun sets and the solar panel stops powering the capsule, rendering it totally inert.

LOG 5, BILL: That’s another scrub. Unexpected mountainside. We’re launching a third Greyfoot!

LOG 6, BOB: The Mun is tidally locked, and we’ve landed on the far side, cutting off our comms access. We’re going to hope the automated program pulls through.

POST, BOB: On day 8, at 4:33, the data return capsule splashed down in the west sea. Recovery team is enroute and mission successful. KSED is considering a communications relay for future unmanned missions.
