Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) Program

AIM: Develop a reusable launch vehicle with orbit, docking, reentry and landing capabilities. Max payload 22 tons.

LOG 2 / Y2D35 / LEABERRY: After a long and troubled development history, the RLV (name pending) is stacked on the launchpad. Valentina, Bob, and Linbo will be performing the flight test. There is only so much we can do from inside mission control. More than ever, the future is in the hands of these 3 brave astronauts.

LOG 3 / Y2D35 / BOB: You’ll be pleased to notice that I am in fact alive, and we are in low Kerbin orbit. Linbo can’t wipe the grin off her face. But we’re only halfway through.

LOG 4 / Y2D35 / VAL: We’re landed. But don’t get it twisted, I am going to tear the HEAD off of those layabout engineers. The fuel drain and drogue chutes both failed. They coulda killed us!

LOG 5 / Y2D36 / LEABERRY: With the flight test (mostly) successful, the first production vehicle will be christened the Thunderbird. SKRRAAAAAWWW!!!

At 50,000 kredits for a 22 ton launch, it’s not as cheap as we had hoped, but the unique capabilities and “”awesome factor””, Valentina explains, make up for the cost.

Duna Girl Scout

AIM: Plant a flag on Duna.

LOG 1 / Y3D171 / LEABERRY: The interplanetary ship is to assembled in three launches, two using the Thunderbird and one, the heaviest, using a LEG 1. The (unmanned) LEG launch experienced a catastrophic failure, so we’re doing it again.

TH-1 (Girl Scout Crew Module)

LOG 2 / Y3D172 / VAL: It’s Bob, Linbo and I takin this portable thin mint paradise up to orbit, in the Thunderbird. This’ll be it’s first official mission. We’ll be using the new Nausarm (In honor of Naus) to dock the modules together.

LOG 3 / Y13D172 / LINBO: Alright!!! Docking successful! Mission control, we can’t tell you how happy we all are, we can’t wipe the grins off our faces. Drinks are on me.

LOG 4 / Y3D172 / VAL: Ah, crap. We reentered much lighter than on the test flight and came in short of the KSC. We don’t have enough fuel to fly over, so we’re gonna have to ditch. See you in hell, ladies and gentlemen.

LOG 5 / Y3D172 / LEABERRY: Fortunately Valentina did not go to hell, and instead used the drogue chutes to splash down at a mere 30m/s. Only the nose cone had to be replaced.

TH-2 (Girl Scout Lander)

LOG 6 / Y3D174 / VERDORF: Valentina has offered the boss and I a personal tour of orbit. I am sure it will be a pleasure.

LOG 7 / Y3D175 / Well, ratburgers. The Girl Scout is complete, but we entered an uncontrollable flatspin over the mountains and had to bail out. I hope these snacks will last until our rescue..

Girl Scout Actual

LOG 8 / Y3D175 / THEOKIN: Val, Linbo and I are aboard the Girl Scout. We’ll be performing our escape burn soon. So long, suckers!

MRRP crew rotation

LOG 1 / Y4D1 / URSEY: Bob and Kathbo are switching out so Lem and I can go home for the holidays. Due to an accidental sep event we actually had to dock the station to the crew capsule, which now has no booster to deorbit us, soo we’re gonna try and use the last of the monopropellant. God, I hope we don’t die.

LOG 2 / Y4D2 / LEABERRY: Ursey and Lem splashed down in the ocean without injury. Bob and Kathbo were quite relieved, as was I.
